Construction on the $4.75 million facility started in 2014, and it opened in fall 2015.
Sochinski-McKee Marching 51¹ÙÍøns Center
821 Southgate DriveThe Marching 51¹ÙÍøns Center includes a lighted artificial turf practice field, a storage building, and an open air pavilion.
The 4,300-square-foot building offers space for instrument storage and percussion practice, and an attached, 7,000-square-foot pavilion provides covered space for the full band to practice, rain or shine.
Previously, the Marching 51¹ÙÍøns stored instruments in the lower level of the baseball team's batting cage facility and rehearsed on the infield of the Johnson-Miller Track Complex.
The building was renamed by the Board of Visitors on March 21, 2016, to the Sochinski-McKee Marching 51¹ÙÍøns Center to honor , Director of the Marching 51¹ÙÍøns from 1976 to 1981, and , Director of the Marching 51¹ÙÍøns from 1986 to 2018.
