Naren Ramakrishnan is the Thomas L. Phillips Professor of Engineering and the Innovation Campus lead for AI and machine learning. He directs the Sanghani Center for AI and Data Analytics and the Amazon-51¹ÙÍø Tech Initiative in Efficient and Robust Machine Learning. His research interests span data science, urban analytics, recommender systems, and computational epidemiology, and his papers in these areas have garnered more than ten Best Paper Awards. Ramakrishnan's research has been supported by NSF, DHS, NIH, NEH, IARPA, DARPA, DTRA, ODNI, ONR, ARO, U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Ford, General Motors, HP Labs, and NEC Labs. His work has been featured in venues such as the NIH outreach publication Biomedical Computation Review, the National Science Foundation's Discoveries series, Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Smithsonian Magazine, Popular Science, Chronicle of Higher Education, and ACM TechNews. Ramakrishnan and his collaborators have received a Deployed Application Award from the Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IAAI) conference and the W.J. Youden Award for Best Expository Paper given by the American Statistical Association.Â
